One of the six counties of Northern Ireland is County Antrim, its name based on the Irish ‘Aontroim’ meaning lone ridge. With over 500,000 visits a year, with Belfast city, Giant’s Causeway and the scenic Nine glens being some of the top most visited. Throughout the six counties there is a lot of delicious and also some rather bizarre food can be found. Food such as Dulse, a dried seaweed snack. Yellow Man is similar to honeycomb, but with a texture of rock…this treat can be found in most traditional markets nowadays and originated in Ballycastle. Here at Hog Roast Bangor you won’t be forced to try any strange concoctions, just our scrumptious bespoke menus.
County Antrim may look small, but we pack a lot into this amazing county. If you end up visiting then let Hog Roast Bangor fill you in on some of the many attractions… for example The Giants Causeway, ruined remains of a pathway to Scotland built by a mythological hero Fionn Mac Cumhaill so that he could fight Scottish giant Benandonner. If you prefer discovering film locations, County Antrim is the perfect location to visit. Game of Thrones scenes were filmed at Ballintoy Harbour, Murlough Bay and Dark Hedges.
If those options still don’t appeal to you and you’re into a bit of history, Belfast was the birthplace of the RMS Titanic. It historically took 26 months to build out of Harland and Wolff shipyard and was finally launched on 31st May 1911, and it set sail on River Lagan. Northern Ireland would not be the same place if County Antrim didn’t exist, they created electric tramways, portable defibrillators and penalty kicks. Here at Hog Roast Bangor we will happily travel to every location shown in the list above. If you can’t find your event location above, just give us a call and one of our lovely staff will make sure we can get a catering team to your venue!
